🤍 Calm 🤍 Clear Sight 🤍 Protection in Tradition 🤍
From the Duo’s Design Collection — a line of original designs by Duo, handmade in small batches — this necklace is hand-strung from polished
magnesite tube beads in a turquoise-blue palette, separated by small gold-tone spacer beads and finished with a copper-gold plated clasp and an
adjustable 40–45 cm extender chain. Each bead measures about 4 × 13 mm. The strand sits lightly at 14 g, so it layers easily with a shorter choker
or a longer pendant.
Why the turquoise-blue palette?
Across Himalayan, Tibetan and Central Asian cultures, the turquoise hue is tied to sky and water — carried as a symbol of calm, clear sight, and
protection. These are cultural associations we describe with respect, not guaranteed effects.
An honest note on the stone. These beads are magnesite, a naturally occurring mineral, cut and polished in a
turquoise style with the colour enhanced. The mineral veining you can see in the beads is a natural feature of the stone; the blue tone is a
colour treatment, and we say so openly here and in the specifications below.
The Beads
- Material: Magnesite, colour enhanced (turquoise style) — a naturally occurring mineral, dyed to a turquoise-blue tone
- Size: Tube / barrel beads, approximately 4 × 13 mm (diameter × length)
- Shape: Polished tube / barrel beads with irregular marbled veining running through each one
- Consistency: Beads are graduated in appearance, not identical — veining and tone vary from bead to bead, which is
characteristic of the material - Spacers: Small gold-tone spacer beads between each magnesite bead
- Transparency: The blue colour is a treatment, not a natural turquoise deposit. We describe the stone as magnesite, never as
turquoise. - Made: Handmade in small batches — an original design by Duo, from the Duo’s Design Collection. Each design is made in one
piece or a small batch, and every strand is strung by hand.
The Findings & How It Wears
- Clasp: Copper-gold plated metal, with a matching extender chain and end tag
- Length: Adjustable 40–45 cm — wear it close as a short necklace or use the extender for a lower line
- Weight: Approximately 14 g
- Wear style: Sits at the collarbone at the shortest setting; layers well with chokers, pendants, and gold-tone
jewellery - Comfort: Light enough for all-day wear, including under a shirt collar
Turquoise Necklace Meaning & Symbolism
In cultural tradition, turquoise — གཡུ in Tibetan, and a stone prized along the Himalayan trade routes for centuries — is associated with the
sky and with protection, calm, and clear sight. It was worn as part of amulets and set into ornament as a mark of reverence, and it remains a
colour that reads as both protective and serene.
What you are wearing here is not a mined turquoise deposit but magnesite in a turquoise style: the same blue palette and the same cultural
associations, at a price that makes the look and the symbolism accessible for daily wear. Pattern and colour are two separate questions — the
veining is the stone’s own, the blue is a treatment, and both are stated plainly above.
Caring for it: keep the piece away from prolonged water, perfume, and direct sun; the colour treatment on magnesite is stable
with normal wear but does not enjoy chemicals or a hot shower. Wipe with a soft dry cloth and store it separately from harder stones.
Please note: the design is identical piece to piece; the stones are not pixel-identical. Every strand is hand-strung, and the
beads are cut and coloured in batches, so veining and tone differ slightly from strand to strand. The piece you receive is made to the same design
and quality as the one photographed.

Natural Stone Notice — Glint & Grain by Kris Nature. All Dzi beads and natural stones feature unique textures, mineral spots,
color variations, and subtle patterns formed by nature. These are authentic characteristics, not defects. Where a stone has been enhanced (dyed,
heat-treated, or otherwise processed), we disclose it openly on the product page. Returns based on natural features are not accepted as quality
claims.
Is this real turquoise?
No — and we would rather say so plainly. The beads are magnesite, a naturally occurring mineral, cut and polished in a
turquoise style with the colour enhanced. The veining in each bead is the stone’s own; the blue tone is a treatment. If you are looking for mined
turquoise, this is not that piece.
What does a turquoise necklace mean?
In cultural tradition the turquoise-blue palette is associated with sky and water — calm, clear sight, and protection. Those are symbolic
associations carried by the colour, not guaranteed effects, and they are the reason this stone is worn as an amulet in Himalayan and Central Asian
cultures. In this necklace the stone itself is magnesite with enhanced colour, as described above.
How long is the necklace, and can I adjust it?
It wears between 40 and 45 cm using the copper-gold plated extender chain — close at the collarbone at the shortest setting, lower with the
extender out.
Is it heavy or will it pull on my neck?
It weighs approximately 14 g, which is light for a beaded strand. It sits comfortably for all-day wear and layers easily under a collar or with
a second necklace.
Is it handmade?
Yes. Every Duo’s Design piece is handmade — an original design by Duo, strung by hand in small batches. Each design is made in one piece or a
small batch, so the piece you receive is made to the same design and quality as the one photographed.
Will my necklace look exactly like the photos?
The design is identical; the stones are not pixel-identical. Each strand is hand-strung, and the beads are cut and colour-treated in batches,
so veining and tone vary slightly from strand to strand.
Can I shower or swim in it?
We recommend not to. Keep it away from prolonged water, perfume, and direct sun; the colour treatment on magnesite is stable with normal wear,
but chemicals and hot water are hard on both the stone and the plated findings. Wipe with a soft dry cloth and store it separately from harder
stones.
Is there any religious or magical guarantee?
No. The associations described here are cultural and symbolic. We make no claim that this piece heals, protects, or guarantees any outcome.
